Simulation of a Sensorless Vector Control SystemBased on an Adaptive Observer With Identifi cationof Electrical Parameters

An adaptive observer with a parameter identifi er is used in electric motor control systems, as well
as in integrated emergency protection for IGBT modules, that are widely used in voltage inverters
as a part of energy storage systems, electric vehicle battery charging/discharging devices and etc.
The article investigates the adaptive observer developed by the authors, whose performance is
verifi ed on the basis of a sensorless vector control system of an induction motor. The utilize of this
system makes it possible to determine the rotational speed of the motor shaft, taking into account
changes in the active resistance of the stator winding without using a rotational speed sensor with
an estimation error of less than 1 %. A functional diagram is presented that reveals the general
structure of the developed state observer for the electric motor, as well as the results of its simulation
studies. The latter were carried out using the designed Simulink model with a vector control system
for an induction motor without a speed sensor with a state observer and a machine parameter
identifi er. The results of the conducted studies have shown high accuracy in estimating the engine
shaft rotation frequency (in transient modes, the error does not exceed 3,71 %, and in steady-state
mode – less than 0,35 %), provided that the active resistance of the stator varies. These errors
are acceptable in the technical implementation of the asynchronous motor parameter identifi cation
system or IGBT modules.
