Influence of Supramolecular Structures on the Heat
of Vapor Formation, Heat Capacity
and Surface Tension of Water |
Pavlov A.N.
When describing the thermal properties of water for the internal energy of liquid water, in addition
to the energy of the chaotic movement of molecules, one should take into account the potential
energy of interaction of molecules associated with supramolecular structures. These structures can
be described as fractal aggregates, that is, loose formations consisting of individual elements that
are structurally similar to the whole formation. Due to their looseness, fractal structures become
clathrates due to the introduction of water molecules from outside. Due to stabilization by fractals,
clathrate water has additional binding energy. It is shown that, based on the concept of the presence
of supramolecular structures in liquid water, it is possible to describe the temperature dependence
of the heat of vaporization, heat capacity and surface tension. Within the framework of the fractal
model, the abnormally high values of heat capacity for liquid water and its temperature decline,
which is not typical for other liquids, are also explained from a unifi ed position. as well as the
formation of the heat of vaporization and surface tension.
