On the selection of the wave functions in the calculation of the Born approximation, the collision cross sections of charged particles in a strong magnetic field |

The question of constructing wave functions simulating experiments in which charged particles (for definiteness – electrons) of strongly magnetized beam collide with the scattering center. Here, «a strongly magnetized» means that the electron Larmor radius is much smaller than their characteristic radius of interaction with the scattering center. It is noted that the wave functions, previously found in the literature [1], describing the motion of particles in a magnetic field may be inadequate to the task. This is due to the fact that the square of the modulus of the wave functions previously found highly localized or one transverse coordinate (relative to the magnetic field) or two (in cylindrical coordinates). Accordingly, the calculation of the scattering cross sections for such functions will not be considered contributions to the cross section of the particles, which are at a distance from the scattering center, the big characteristic size of the region of localization of the wave functions of the square known. Constructed wave functions which, at least, a model correspond to non-localized particle beams, and which is necessary to determine the scattering cross section (at the scattering center) particles of strongly magnetized beam
