This paper is devoted to the study of methods for improving the reliability of infrasound measurements and for
detecting fragments of “useful” signals in time series of infrasound monitoring data. To reduce wind-induced
noise and increase the reliability of signal registration, the use of two hydrophones deployed underwater
is proposed, followed by calculation of the Pearson correlation coefficient between synchronous signals.
Correlation dependencies over different time intervals are analyzed, and an optimal evaluation window
providing the most efficient signal discrimination is identified. The influence of sample length on detection
reliability is examined, and spectral analysis of the recorded signal fragments is performed. The obtained
results confirm the effectiveness of the correlation-based approach for extracting low-frequency infrasound
signals (0.1–1 Hz) under noisy background conditions and may be applied in the development of monitoring
systems for natural and anthropogenic processes.
Keywords: infrasound, hydrophone, Pearson correlation, spectral analysis.
