A historical review of achievements in the fi eld of personal protective equipment for the musculoskeletal system – exoskeletons – is presented. It is shown that the development of the fi rst models was carried out for the military complex and medicine, but currently the scope of application of exoskeletons is constantly expanding. Patent information is analyzed, working samples of domestic production of this type of mechanized personal protective equipment are considered. Prospects for the use of exoskeletons in the construction fi eld are considered.
