The Dynamic Viscosity of Hydrocarbons Saturated With
Supercritical CO2
in a Wide Range of Pressures
and Temperatures by the Rolling Ball Method |

The dynamic viscosity of kerosene and transformer oil saturated with supercritical fl uid was measured
in the pressure range up to 20 MPa, at isotherms 313 and 333 K by the rolling ball method. It has
been shown that the decrease in dynamic viscosity of a hydrocarbon is greater the higher its initial
viscosity. It has been shown that an increase in the temperature of a hydrocarbon saturated with
supercritical CO2
in the entire studied pressure range leads to a decrease in the dynamic viscosity of
the hydrocarbon. It has been found that an increase in pressure in the hydrocarbon-supercritical CO2
system leads to a decrease in the dynamic viscosity of the hydrocarbon. Theoretical substantiation of
change of dynamic viscosity of hydrocarbons in wide range of pressures, temperatures, saturation with
supercritical CO2
is proposed. The dynamic viscosity of hydrocarbons saturated with supercritical
CO2
is described using the modifi ed Standing, Chew and Connelly and I.I. Dunyushkin equations.
Empirical coeffi cients of equations were obtained by minimizing the error function. The standard
deviation of the calculated data from the experimental data does not exceed 4.8%. Experimental and
calculated results on the dynamic viscosity of hydrocarbons saturated with supercritical CO2
can be
used to develop technical and economic recommendations for the design of oil fi elds.
