Investigation of the Surfacing Process and Development
of a System for Diagnosing Defects |

The article discusses the surfacing process, which is used for surfacing blanks, restoring the geometry
of worn machine parts, creating hardening layers and bimetallic structures. The authors of the article
emphasize that surfacing, which is one of the types of welding technologies, requires careful quality
control of the deposited layer to avoid deformation of the base part. The work describes the methods of
quality control of deposited layers, including visual-optical control, which is the main non-destructive
diagnostic method. In addition, the infl uence of various parameters of the surfacing process on the
formation of defects is studied, which allows developing recommendations for optimizing the process
and improving the quality of the deposited layer. In conclusion, the article discusses the prospects for
using a machine vision system and an acoustic emission method to automate diagnostics and quality
control of the deposited layer.
