Approbation of an Approach to Constructing
and Setting Up Hydrodynamic Models
in the (Software Package) PC RN-KIM, Taking Into Account
the Correlation Dependence of Compressibility on Clay Content |

The paper proposes an algorithm for constructing and setting up hydrodynamic models that allows
taking into account the compressibility of clay interlayers, which are clearly visible on the curves of
geophysical well surveys, and clay inclusions in the pores of the reservoir.
The proposed method is based on the construction of a compressibility cube using a correlation
dependence obtained on the basis of laboratory studies to determine the compressibility coeffi cient
of the pore space, taking into account the clay content. In addition to the elastic properties of clay
inclusions, the hydrodynamic model also takes into account their fi ltration-capacitive properties.
The work was carried out for one of the deposits in Western Siberia.
The degree of infl uence of the elastic and fi ltration-capacitive properties of clay inclusions,
determined from the results of laboratory experiments, was assessed by the dynamics of the main
development indicators.
Numerical calculations have established a signifi cant contribution of the compressibility of clay
inclusions to the rate of change in fl uid fl ow rate, the dynamics of reservoir pressure, and the nature
of well fl ooding.
The presence of clay interlayers in the hydrodynamic model changes the pressure distribution
pattern. Reduced reservoir pressure in reservoir intervals is compensated by increased pressure
in poorly drained clayey intervals. Water-saturated clays are discharged into sandstone intervals,
which affects the water cut of the product.
A new approach to constructing geological-hydrodynamic models that take into account not only
the properties of reservoir intervals, but also the elastic and fi ltration-capacitive properties of clay
inclusions, is relevant for deposits with a high clay content.
