Automatic Power Cable Supply System
for a Tethered Unmanned Aerial Vehicle |

An automatic system is proposed for supplying a power cable to a high-altitude landing unmanned
aerial vehicle. This system is based on the combined use of a winch with a cable stacker, a tension
mechanism for the power cable, a landing platform and a centering– locking device. The features
of the construction and principles of operation of each of the four main components of the proposed
automatic system are given. Recommendations are given on the practical implementation of each
component, taking into account the level of development of modern circuit technology and small
mechanization with software control. The issues related to cable winding and unwinding under the
infl uence of disturbing natural factors during the operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle, as well
as the processes of managing the preparation of its takeoff and landing, are analyzed.
