The article discusses the causes of magnetic vibrations in the stators of squirrel-caged induction
motorsand provides a mathematical description of the process of their excitation. Dependencies are
given that make it possible to determine the relationship between magnetic induction waves in the air
gap of an induction motor, waves of radial magnetic forces acting on the stator from the magnetic fi eld,
and bending deformations of the stator yoke. Using these dependencies in a multiphysics fi nite element
design environment, a model of an AIR180M4U3 asynchronous motor was built. Using this computer
model, the interrelated electromagnetic, mechanical and acoustic processes in the motor were studied,
taking into account the slotting of its rotating rotor. During the study, voltages of different harmonic
composition and amplitude were applied to the motor windings, which, in turn, caused magnetic noise
and vibration of varying intensity and strength, as well as pulsations of the electromagnetic torque.
The simulation results made it possible to establish the dependence of the amplitude of oscillations of
the stator core, the sound pressure waves emitted and the electromagnetic torque of the motor on the
amplitudes of the 3rd and 5th harmonics of the supply current, as well as on the asymmetry of the supply
voltages in the stator windings of the motor.
