THEORETICAL MODEL OF RESISTANCE DURING ICEBREAKER MOVEMENT IN A CHANNEL OF BROKEN ICE |
N.V. KALININA, A.A. KURKIN, A.G. LARIN, E.M. GRAMUZOV
Model experiment and calculation methods are the most common methods of studying the ice propulsion of ships today. The construction of a semi-empirical model of resistance in the interaction of ships with solid ice is shown in the work. Mathematical models that simplify the physical reality are used to obtain a theoretical model of solid ice resistance to icebreaker motion. Therefore, dimensionless coefficients reflecting the conditionality of the assumptions made and the inaccuracies of the accepted scheme are introduced into theoretical dependencies to obtain a reliable calculation method. Tests of various models of icebreakers in the experimental basin were carried out to find the values of these coefficients. Empirical coefficients will be obtained from the data of model tests and calculated dependencies will be set up to predict the ice propulsion of ships. The given semiempirical resistance model should be considered in unity with model experimental data.
Keywords: icebreakers, solid ice, ice propulsion prediction, semi-empirical models of ice resistance, testing of icebreaker models, calculated dependencies.
