MODIFICATION OF THE STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES F THE SURFACE OF TITANIUM VT1-0 AFTER ELECTRON BEAM PROCESSING |

In this work, the surface of technically pure titanium VT1-0 was strengthened by electron beam processing, which allows to increase the fatigue life of the material under study many times. The structural-phase states and defective substructure of titanium subjected to multi-cycle fatigue tests have been studied by scanning and transmission electron diffraction microscopy. It is shown that the surface layer formed as a result of electron beam irradiation contains micropores located parallel to the sample surface. It is shown that irradiation of technically pure titanium grade VT1-0 with a high-intensity pulsed electron beam in the mode (16 keV, 25 J/cm2, 150 microseconds, 3 imp, 0.3 s–1). it leads to the grinding of the grain structure and the formation of an intragrain substructure, i.e. to the formation of additional structural levels of the submicroand nanoscale range in the surface layer.
