PHOTOALIGNMENT OF LIQUID CRYSTALS ON AZO-DYE FILMS |

The article presents the results of experimental studies of the photoinduced properties of azo dye SD1 films. All optical measurements were carried out in a standard sandwich cell filled with a nematic liquid crystal. The azimuthal and polar anchoring energies with LC were measured as functions of the irradiation energy power and azo dye concentration. It is shown that the absolute values of both polar and azimuthal anchoring energies increase with order parameter SA, with the polar anchoring energy is found to be an order of magnitude higher than the azimuthal strength.
