MINGAZOV Cheap explosives (ANFO, granulite) are widely used means of rock blasting in mining. Commonly these mixtures are based on solid oxidizer and liquid fuel and have the detonation, explosive and energy parameters which are largely determined by physical and mechanical properties of the components and by the parameters of manufacturing process. This paper considers the methods and studies physical and technical properties of the main components (granular ammonium nitrate, liquid petroleum products) and additives (combustible powder additives) that affects the balance of composition as well as technological properties of the mixtures (fluidity, homogeneity of the composition) which are manufactured using granulated ammonium nitrate with different technological properties (absorption and retention capacity relatively to petroleum products) and using different manufacturing technologies (mixing in a gravity fl ow or mixing screw). The features of crystal structure and porous texture of saltpeter granules with different technological properties (smooth and porous) are studied. The viscosity properties of petroleum products (spent petroleum products and fuel mixtures) and the effect of the concentration of a depressant additive on the viscosity of petroleum products are determined. Physical and mechanical properties of powdered fuel are investigated and it is recommended to take into account the influence of the nature of powder materials and particle parameters (size, shape, anisodiametricity) on the nature of the adhesion bond with the surface of saltpeter granules. The influence of industrial ammonium nitrate on the flowability of granulite is shown.
