EVALUATION OF EFFECTS OF FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH A LOW-TEMPERATURE PLASMA AT A HIGH-CURRENT ELECTRIC EXPLOSION OF CONDUCTORS IN VACUUM ON GERMINATION OF LETTUCE (LACTUCA SATIVA) SEEDS |

The results of experiments on the assessment of factors (light radiation, pulsed magnetic field, penetrating radiation) arising from a high-current electric explosion of a tungsten wire in a vacuum on the germination rate of lettuce seeds are presented. It was established that a light flash and a pulsed magnetic field do not exert a statistically significant effect on seed germination. Using TLD dosimetry methods, ionizing γ-radiation was not detected at the location of biological objects. Nevertheless, a statistically significant decrease in the length of the seedling of lettuce was revealed under the influence of electric explosion. Using multivariate analysis, it was shown that penetrating radiation, which does not belong to any of the known types of ionizing radiation, has the most significant effect on the growth of seedling of lettuce. The results of the analysis of tracks on x-ray films installed at the location of biological objects indicate that the radiation having a biological effect is penetrating radiation of an unknown nature.
