INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF ATOMIC TEMPERATURE ON THE DRIFT OF IONS IN A GAS |

In this paper, we studied the influence of the electric field strength and the temperature of atoms on the drift of ions in a gas. The Monte-Carlo method is used to calculate the drift of helium ions in its own gas in a constant and uniform electric field at various gas temperatures. The coefficients of mobility, diffusion in the directions along and across the electric field, the effective, longitudinal and transverse temperatures are calculated. A comparison is made with known theoretical and experimental data. Approximation formulas are obtained for the mobility coefficients and the average energy of the ions, depending on the temperature of the atoms and the strengths of the electric and magnetic fields.
