THE EFFECT OF SOLAR ACTIVITY ON THE SEISMICITY OF THE EARTH |
N.T. TARASOV
The effect of magnetic storms (SSC) on the global seismicity of the Earth has been studied. It is shown that after SSC, the number of earthquakes decreases by 2 %. However, a decrease in seismicity begins 2...3 days before the SSC, which coincides with the time of propagation of the solar plasma to the Earth. This suggested that the change in seismicity was caused by the ionizing electromagnetic radiation of the sun. Therefore, the change in seismicity after bursts of intensity of electromagnetic radiation from the sun in the radio frequency range, which is a measure of its ionizing radiation, has been studied. It is shown that after bursts of electromagnetic radiation there is a sharp statistically significant decrease in the number of earthquakes by 5 %, which coincides with them in time. At the same time there is an increase in earthquake energy.
Key words: seismicity, earthquakes, seismic activity, solar activity, solar flare, magnetic storm, electromagnetic fields, ionizing radiation.
