DOPPLER EFFECT IN OPTICS |

The paper discusses the possibility of adjusting the classical formula and the SRT formula for the Doppler effect in optics based on the concept of preferential inertial reference frame (PIRF) related to the immaterial structure of a physical vacuum. It is assumed that electromagnetic waves travel in a physical vacuum at speed C0 relative to its immaterial structure. It is substantiated that the speed of matter particles determined relative to the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR) is concurrently the speed of their motion relative to the immaterial structure of the physical vacuum, i.e. PIRF may be related to CMBR as well. Since the speeds of bodies in motion relative to the CMBR and, hence, relative to PIRF can be determined reliably, then using the formula correlating to the frequency of photons irradiated by a substance and speed of the substance motion relative to PIRF, which was obtained in [5], and the classical formula for the Doppler effect, one can deduce a general formula for the Doppler effect in optics that includes the classical formula and the SRT formula as in particular cases. With the help of the deduced general formula for the Doppler effect, the correlation was deduced, which determines the relative shift of spectra of the source and receiver of radiation depending on the speed of their motion relative to the PIRF.
