SECULAR CHANGES IN THE EXCITATION OF THE SUN – A NEW PARAMETER OF ITS ACTIVITY |

A new characteristic of the activity of the Sun has been introduced – its excitement P, which is based on the analysis of the average for the year absolute value of the difference between the Wolf numbers in the neighboring days or the square of this difference. The larger the P value, the higher the excitement (anxiety) of the Sun. It is shown that the average per-cycle excitement of the Sun P almost monotonously decreases since the middle of the XIX century, when it was maximum after the deep minimum of solar activity in 1795–1825. This indicates that in the near future in the activity of the Sun another epoch of a deep minimum will come, similar to those in 1795–1825, 1645–1715, 1420–1500, 1280–1340.
