DEPENDENCE OF THE OCEAN LEVEL ON THE MEDIEVAL TEMPERATURE ACCORDING TO THE DATA FOR 3000000 YEARS |
A.I. LAPTUKHOV, V.A. LAPTUKHOV
The volume of ice lying on land and the associated level of the ocean L is determined, basically, by the global medieval temperature of surface air T, which varies with the parameters of the Earth’s orbit, the luminosity of the sun, and the chemical composition of the atmosphere. Based on the known data from the literature, changes in the time t of the parameters T(t) and L(t) over the past three million years, the nonlinear dependence of the ocean level on the temperature L(T) was constructed. Since the functions L(T) for different time intervals turned out to be signifi cantly different, this indicates the need to correct the methods of obtaining the initial data T(t) and L(t). From simple theoretical considerations, the basic properties of the function L(T) are obtained. Taking into account these properties and the initial data L(t) and T(t), the universal function L(T) and its piecewise polynomial approximation are found. It is noted that the function L(T) can be used to refi ne climate changes and T(t) based on known data on the dynamics of ice volume on the land surface and the associated level of the world ocean L(t).
Key words: ice volume on land, ocean level, medieval temperature, nonlinear dependence.
