PECULIARITIES OF PULSED DISCHARGE DISTRIBUTION ON THE SURFACE OF WATER |

The present work is a continuation of a number of works on the investigation of a pulsed high-voltage discharge propagating above the water surface. The reasons for the appearance of static delay and discharge time are investigated. Particular attention is paid to the characteristics of a high-voltage discharge propagating over liquid surfaces in the presence of barriers. The analysis of voltage dependences is performed, at which the completed stage of discharge from the position of the barrier relative to the air electrode is realized and the results obtained are explained. For the purpose of developing lightning protection facilities for objects in the aquatic environment, the infl uence of the depth of the water section and the depth of the obstacle sinking on the character of the propagation of a pulsed discharge is investigated. The effect of the water depth and barrier submersion depth on the propagation of a pulsed discharge is studied. These results can be useful in the development of lightning protection equipment for objects in the aquatic environment.
