ON THE RELEASE OF ENERGY AND NEUTRONS IN THE INELASTIC INTERACTION OF FAST PARTICLES WITH NUCLEI OF SMALL ACTINIDES |

Using the internationally estimated data on the mass defects of nucleons and over 3330 nuclides, the calculated results were obtained for the release of energy and neutrons by destroying 237Np, 239Pu, 241Am and 244Cm nuclei into two or more fragments by the first 87 particles (n, p, d, ..., 25N) 2nd generation nuclear cascade. A relative increase in the energy yield due to inelastic interaction with such nuclei of these particles is shown not only with increasing charge and mass number of the latter, but also at their distance from the stability band. It has been established that the number of neutrons released by the formation of two or three fragments of actinide nuclei can signifi cantly exceed 30 pieces with
a corresponding energy expenditure of particles of not more than 70 MeV. The using of small actinides as an energy source can solve the vital problem of their utilization.
