THE PHYSICAL NATURE OF JETS OF RADIO GALAXIES |

It is discussed the hypothesis according to which jets of radio galaxies represent the cross-sectional of turns of giant electromagnetic spirals. The spiral electromagnetic field is generated in active nuclei of galaxies, but is found in the case where plane of the electromagnetic spirals coincides with beam of our sight. Electromagnetic spirals have a well-ordered longitudinal electric field and an axial magnetic fi eld whose lines of force are wound on the electric fi eld lines. Radio emission of jets is created by electrons of space plasma, which are accelerated to relativistic energies by longitudinal electric field of spirals. Electrons cross magnetic field lines and give off synchrotron radiation into a narrow cone of angles in direction of own motion along spirals. On example of few galaxies are considered the constructive features of their electromagnetic spirals, the acceleration mechanism and radiation of electrons in them as well as the problem of moving jets with superluminal velocities.
