THE INITIAL STAGE OF MECHANICAL ALLOYING IN SI(Al, Mg, Cr)99 57Fe1 BINARY SYSTEMS |

X-ray diffraction and probe Mӧssbauer spectroscopy were used to study solid-phase reactions of the initial state of the mechanical alloying in Si(Al, Mg, Cr)99 57Fe1 binary systems. It has been established that the «preparative stage» goes before the initial stage itself. During this «preparation» the grain size of the basic component reduces to its critical value Lcr, and after that the alloying process is realized. It has been shown that we can take a value of dN/d(lgD) as a universal characteristic of the initial stage of mechanical alloying, and this value corresponds to Lmax=17 nm grain size regardless of the basic component type (N is the yield of reaction, D is the dose of mechanical energy). It has been established the dominant role of the chemical interaction for the kinetics of alloying between a basic element and Fe, increasing in the Mg, Al, Si, Cr series. A phenomenological interpretation of the linear N(D) dependence with linear dependence of the specific surface of the grain boundaries versus the dose of the mechanical energy is given.
