PHASE FORMATION DURING MECHANICAL ALLOYING OF THE MIXTURES BASED ON Fe75C25 COMPOSITION |

Phase states which formed at the different stages of mechanical alloying of iron, graphite and alloying elements mixtures in planetary ball mill was studied by the X-Ray diffraction. Si, N, O was used like as alloying elements. At the last stages of the mechanical synthesis of Fe75C(25-х)Six and Fe(75-х)C25Six (х≤25) alloys stationary phase states, that are
formed in these alloys was studied. It is shown that the stationary phase compositions are determined by the dynamic equilibrium between crystalline and amorphous phases and depend on the composition of the alloys. Phase transformations on successive stages of the mechanical alloying was studied at the constant alloy composition Fe72,6C24,5O1,1N1,8. It is shown that these transformations at all stages of mechanical alloying can be interpreted like the dynamic equilibrium between the phases. The results suggest about important role of thermal activation processes related with the formation of phases in the processes of mechanical alloying.
