Engineering Physics Annotation << Back ELECTROSTATICS OF BIEFELD-BROWN EFFECT S.A. GERASIMOV The situation concerning explanation of the Biefeld-Brown effect requires detail study and description of calculation method of the electric fi eld created by two metallic asymmetrical bodies. Usual calculation methods using known charge distribution is not appropriate for the solution of such problems and can be a reason of dubious conclusions. One should study the electric fi eld for given potentials of metallic bodies compositing the asymmetric capacitor. On the other side the calculation method should be universal that enables to determine the optimal geometric parameters of the construction at which the lift force is maximal. In order to calculate the lift force, the dielectric medium surrounding the asymmetric capacitor is taken into account since the air being the dielectric is drawn into the space where the non-uniformity of the electric fi eld is maximal. Such an approach will enable to consider this problem from point of view of the electrohydrodynamics (EHD) and, possibly, will unambiguously answer all the questions concerning the nature of the lift force. Even for the case of the asymmetric capacitor including two long metallic cylindrical conductors the lift force is found to be comparable the experimental one.
