GAS JET IMPINGEMENT ON AN INTRICATE SHAPE SURFACE |

The paper presents the results of studies the interaction of turbulent gas jet with a surface having a cavity. It was found that the resultant force of gas jet impingement on an impediment is the sum of several components that arise due to: changing the vector of momentum at the bottom of the cavity, changing the vector of momentum at its edges, and flowing of gas along the impediment flat surface. For the cavities of various shapes the forces of jet action on their surfaces are defined separately from other components. The results of studies the dependence of the forces acting on impediments with various shapes upon the distance between them and the jet efflux orifice are given. The values of the shape factor for various impediment and their parts are estimated. The results of the study revealed that the shape factor during the interaction of the gas jet with a liquid surface takes values in the range 1.4 ... 1.55.
