EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL EVALUATION OF DETECTION OF GRAVITATIONAL WAVES |
A.V. Lukanenkov
The author has previously proposed to use global seismic antenna (GSA) for detector of gravitational signals (GW-signals), its elements – arbitrary «quiet» seismic stations, antenna aperture should be about 10,000 km. Using the global seismic antenna , seven signals were detected with a high confidence level. These signals describe the relative motion of the points of seismic stations placement on different continents of the Earth. In this paper we evaluated the sensitivity of the GSA. The threshold of sensitivity depends on the level of seismic noise at stations of the GSA, the number of stations, frequency, the time duration of the processed fragments. The achieved threshold of sensitivity(Pn = 2,5∙10–19 W/m2) allowed to detect GW- signals with h≈10–21. Increasing the time duration and the number of stations you can lower the threshold of sensitivity by 4-5 orders that allow the detection of weaker GW-signals (h≈10–23…10–24). The reliability of association of signals and pulsars is confirmed by comparison of the spectral energy densities for the registered GW signals and gravitational-wave radiation of associated pulsars. Based on several criteria it concludes that the respective pulsars are sources of detected gravitational signals.
Key words: gravitational signal, seismic antenna, deformation, radiation pattern, energy flux density, seismic noise, spectral energy density, threshold sensitivity.
