Engineering Physics Annotation << Back On the conditions of applicability of Drude’s formula Rukhadze A.A. The conditions of applicability of Drude’s formula for description of linear electromagnetic processes such as the relocation of volumetric charges, the diffusion of transverse field, the dispersion of volumetric electromagnetic fields are discussed. It is shown that in the cases when in the processes the volumetric charge (or the longitudinal electromagnetic field) occurs important Drude’s formula leads to the results that contradict to the conditions of applicability of gaseous approximation for free electrons in metals. In such cases Drude’s formula occurs qualitatively unjustified.
