Spectral characteristics of the spark discharge
in a magnetic field

Deployed in time (50 ns/mm) photographic recording of the emission spectra of the plasma spark at different values of the magnetic field (H = 0…300 kE) made in order to establish their influence on the electron density ne, temperature Te, plasma emission characteristics of different stages: initial (avalanche-streamer), the formation of a cathode spot channel, quasi-stationary arc. It was revealed that the spectral composition of the radiation and the intensity of the continuum depends on the strength of the longitudinal magnetic field. With increasing magnetic field maximum continuous radiation is shifted to shorter wavelengths. The longitudinal magnetic field leads to an increase in temperature, density plasma channel and the specific energy in the discharge. The plasma channel is characterized by the almost complete ionization and the presence of high concentrations of singly and doubly ionized atoms.
