GENERATION OF VACUUM ELECTRIC DISCHARGES IN ELECTRODE SYSTEMS WITH STRONGLY NONUNIFORM FIELD DISTRIBUTION |

The generation of pulsed discharges over the gas media pressure range from 2 kPa up to 20 kPa is studied. The discharge electric supply system made it possible to regulate parameters of voltage pulses applied to electrodes: the amplitude can be varied up to 120 kV, the pulse duration lies in the range 30-500 ns and the front duration equals 5-10 ns. The characteristic property of the electrode systems under consideration is their ability to create strongly non-uniform fields. The experiments have shown the discharge space structure is determined by the pressure in the chamber, the electrode system configuration and voltage pulse parameters.
