Mesh Model for Measuring Micrometeoroid Velocities |
Telegin A.M., Voronov K.E., Shestakov D.A.
In this paper, a brief review of known designs and methods for determining the velocity
of high-speed microparticles is carried out and subsequently, a grid-based sensor design
capable of determining the velocity vector is proposed. A model of microparticle charge
pointing on the grids of the investigated sensor and a detailed derivation of the formulas
of the components of the particle velocity vector are given. Various methods of recording
signals from the sensor grids are proposed and the most economical method using only one
charge amplifi er is selected. The calculated relation is given, which shows the infl uence of the
distance between the grids, parameters of charged microparticles on the shape of the output
signal from the measuring grid. The resulting sensor is planned to be used in conjunction
with a dust-impact mass spectrometer system to investigate the elemental composition of
high-velocity particles.
