TRACTION FORCE OF AN ELECTROMAGNETIC THRUSTER WITH UNCLOSED FOUCAULT CURRENTS |

The electromagnetic thruster is an electromagnet, in the variable magnetic field of which there is a massive conductor. The traction force is created by open Foucault currents flowing in the conductor. This force is compensated by the latent force acting on the variable electromagnetic field created by displacement currents. In real conditions, that is, at low frequencies and normal induction values alternating magnetic field, the thrust force generated by such a mover is small. This imposes additional requirements on the methodology traction force measurements. Taking into account the secondary processes that affect the lifting force, it is possible to measure the change in the weight of the thruster when different conductor positions. The change in weight is maximal in the regions of the greatest inhomogeneity of the magnetic field and is value corresponding to theoretical calculations and other measurements.
