Engineering Physics Annotation << Back CENTURY VARIATIONS OF THE DAILY AMPLITUDE OF AIR TEMPERATURES IN RUSSIA V.A. LAPTUKHOV According to the data for 1881–2018 for 12 different meteorological stations in Russia, the average annual changes in the daily amplitude of air temperatures AT and their moving 11-year average values of AT11 are considered. It was shown that in this time interval for many meteorological stations, the AT11 parameter signifi cantly decreases, and this decrease is close to monotonic. It was noted that the value of AT is determined mainly by the anticyclonic activity of the atmosphere and, therefore, AT11 is an important characteristic of climate change. An explanation is offered why in the last decades more powerful typhoons, cyclones and anticyclones have been observed, which are accompanied by stronger destructive consequences of the rampage, the abundance of rainfall and record high heat.
