POINTWISE MASS BALANCING
OF THE CYLINDRICAL RESONATOR
GYROSCOPE |

Expressions for identifi cation of the components of the unbalance of the inhomogeneous
mass distribution for the cylindrical resonator gyroscope (CRG) are obtained. These expressions
generalize the known results obtained earlier for the hemispherical resonator
gyroscope (HRG). Algorithms of pointwise balancing of the resonator both along the edge
(«by mass») and on the shell surface («in rigidity») are proposed and generalized. The
algorithms allow choosing the optimal number and orientation of the balancing points
depending on the number of compensated harmonics of the inhomogeneity. It is shown
that the optimal mass removal using the method of least squares is equivalent to picking
up the discrete Fourier transform algorithm.
