An approximate method of computation of Green
function for the wave equation

A modified variant of an approximate analytical method of computation of a field described with the wave equation is proposed for conductive and nonconductive multilayered media. The basic idea of the method is that the monochromatic field in multilayered media is described with a mathematical model of the same type as the one in a homogeneous space, one of the parameters of the model being proposed to be computed upon the basis of solution in the Laplace equation for the multilayered medium in which the field is propagating. This quasistatic parameter of the model is the equivalent propagation constant. The proposed modification enables to eliminate the dependence of the equivalent propagation constant on the size and shape of the source of the field. The gist of the method is set out, the degree of adequacy of the proposed model is assessed, the applicability domain is estimated in respect of frequency. The method enables to simplify the computations and to diminish the amount of the computations if compared to other techniques based upon the strict dynamic approach.
